Track description
Traditional university funding mechanisms are changing. There is currently much attention to the roles performance indicators could play in funding, and there is a noticeable shift from input-based towards output-based funding. And, governments are tightening their budgets for higher education and research and asking other stakeholders (students, business & industry) to invest as well. These shifts pose important questions, such as:
- How to manage financial resources in times of crises?
- Which techniques do universities use to assess their sustainability (e.g. risk management)?
- How can universities generate additional income?
- What is the role of performance indicators in funding and resource allocation? And how do they contribute to the sustainability of higher education and universities?
- Which policies and strategies can help to optimise financial resources?
- Who pays for higher education? How can we strike a balance between private and public investments?
